GEORGE BENWAY CELEBRATE 50 YEARS ' 3; Mr. and Mrs. George Benway of R.R. #3 of Demorestville celebrated their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary at an open house given by their family at Bethel Hall, Bethel Street on October 23, 1977. The bride and groom of fifty years were married on October 26, 1927 at the United Church parsonage in Consecon by the Rev. Tyrell. The bride‘s sister Mrs. Bessie Smith was bridesâ€" maid and best man was her brotherâ€"inâ€" law Mro Clifford Smith, now deceased. I ‘ n The bride Lee the former Laura Hamilton, daughter Of the late‘ William Hamilton and Hettie Doughty Of Madoc and the groom was the son of the late Frank Benway and Ruth Eaton of Hillier, Ontario. Mrs. Benway has ten brothers and Sisters, Mabel, Muriel. Bessie, Roy Kenneth, Allan, Murray, Earl (deceased), Ruth and Velma. Mr. Benway has five in his family, Viola. Charles, Edith, Geraldine (deceased) and William (deceased). Mr. and Mrs. Benway moved from their family farm in Hillier township to Doxsee's community in the fall of 19Q4 to the former George Reed farm, where they still farm with their son and grandsons. Neighbours, family and friends called at Bethel Hall during the after- noon to wish them congratulations and best wishes. They were greeted at the door by their only son Ronald, his wife Gloria and their three grand- sons, Dwayne, Dennis and David. The bride and groom received their guests, along with their brides~ maid Mrs. Smith.
