I ME. AND MRS. FRED HOPE MARK 50th ANNIVERSARY ’30 Saturday, February 3rd. 1973. Mr. and Mrs. Freleope. R.R. #3. Demorestville (DoxSees). celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. The couple was married fifty years ago, January 31, 1923 at the home of the bride by Reverend J. W. Ogden, Wilberforce, Haliburton County, Ontario. The bride was the ” former Elizabeth Dunford. daughter Of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Dunford. The groom was the sons of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Hope. Bridesmaid was a cousin, Miss Kath- erine MoCrea, now Mrs. Fred Watson, Don Mills. Ontario. Best man was Jesse Shortt, a friend of the groom. of Lindsay The groom and his Edward County in 1922 father came to Prince and bought the Floyd Huff farm on Jericho Road. Four years later. they bought the Morden Gilbert farm on Gilberts Mills Road (Doxsees). where they built a home before selling the farm in 1963. They have four children; Lloyd, who lives on Prospect Avenue, Picton: Ruth (Mrs. Foster Jackson), West Lake; Keith, Demorestville and Sandra (Mrs. Fred Banting). Toronto, and seventeen grandchildren. Mr. Hope had two sisters, Mrs. J. Pickens, Gooderham. and Mrs. H. Maxwell. Kakabeka Falls. Mrs. Hope has one surviving sister, Mrs. A. Hills, Peterborough. Mr. and Mrs. Hope were at home to their friends and neighbors on Saturday afternoon, February 3rd. The Community Circle catered to the tea for the guests. SerVers were granddaughters, Mrs. Ken Jackson. Haliburton; Mrs. Brian Stewart, Northport; Misses Shirley and Freda Hope. Picton and Misses Janice and Judy Jackson West Lake. Youngest granddaughter, Miss Karen Banting. Toronto. looked after the guest book. The bride 0f fifty years wore a navy dresa with raschel knit top in empire style with an orchid corsage and the groom a gold carnation boutonniere. The family presented their parents with a pair of loVely lamps: the community with a gold clock besides other numerous gifts from grandchildren and friends. The rooms were decorated in gold and white. A decorated threeâ€"tier anniversary cake centred the dining room table. with gold candles in crystal holders on either side. Sons Lloyd and Keith and daughters Ruth and Sandra received the guests at door.
