WI ART CRAFT SALE The Women’s Institute movement began at Stoney Creek in Canada in 1897 by Adelaide Hunter Hoodless. When her infant son died in 1889 from drinking impure milk she devoted herself to the betterment of education for new mothers, She helped form the National Council of Women of Canada; the Victoria Order of Nurses and the National Association of the YWCAr The Prince Edward County Woman’s Institute in its 104th year is still going strong, advocating for social and economic change, empowering women through personal growth, educating in health and safety and helping urban and rural women. Over two hundred craft vendors from across Canada attended the 29th Arts and Crafts Sale at the Picton Fair grounds on August 2. There was everything from jewellery to toys.
