W Hillier, WI member gets surprise honor HILLIER -â€" Hillier Womens' institute held its August meeting on Thursday afternoon at the Trailer Camp at Melville. . Thewomenmetatthehome of ME. and Mrs. Jake DeVries. They had been invited to see his collection of various birds, animals, fish and insects. Many items in his collection are found in Prince Edward County, although a few animals and birds are not found in our area. Mr. De Vries is a wellâ€"known taxidermist and he explained how he had gotten some of his unique exhibits, thus making our visit more interesting. After bidding farewell to our host, we had an outdoor meet at the trailer owned by Mr. an Mrs. Morle Conley. We. were pleased to ve Mrs. DeVria and her mother, Mrs. Tim- merma‘n at our meeting. Mrs. Timmerman has been a member of Hillier Vâ€. for several years and has moved from Rose Hall to a new home in Melville. In her opening remarks, the president, Mrs. Betty Alyea welcomed the guests an thanked Lois for preparing such a nice setting for our meeting. Members are reminded that we are to make cookies for sale at the WI booth at Picton Fair. Our presith will pick them us] on Friday evenin . Hillier will serve ‘ tea an cookies from‘ 12 to a pm. on Saturday afternoon. A meeting was planned to decide on the annual bus trip in October. A humorous poem was read by one of our members. A happy event of the afternoon ~ was the presentation of a Branch Life Membership to Mrs. Luella Jordan. It had been kept secret, and Mrs. Jordan was surprised and deeply ap- pre‘ciateive of the thought- uiness of her friends in being so honored.
