Thurlow Minor Soccer Soccer was First started in Thurlow Township by Mr. Dick Edwards who was appointed Presudent 0F Minor Soccer I972. In their First year Thurlow was introduced to the Belleville and District League and entered Five teams. 2 Atoms Age 8 - IO years I Mosquoti Age I0 - I2 years I PeeWee Age I2 - I4 years I Bantam Age I4 - I6 years Sponsors 0F the I972 league were: Atoms V.L. Card Construction Reid Sand and Gravel Mosguoti Fitzgibbon Construction (Earl DeMille) Eggflge Club Cedars ï¬gflggfl G. G B. Plastering Ltd. The Bantams under the coaching oF Mr. Dick Edwards and Mr. Don Wright won the Quinte District Cup in I972 in their league. In I973 E.B. Webber was appointed President oF Minor Soccer For Thurlow. h1l973 we had seven teams to play soccer and now had three playing Fields as I972 we had only CanniFton School. Welmm had, thanks to the Thurlow Recreation Centre, CanniFton School, Dutch Christian School and Homan Fields. These fWflds were laid out by Dick Edwards, Don Wright, Jim Sherman, Bill McMurter, AI Waterson, Harold GriFFin and Ted Webber with lots oF help From the players especially the Bantams. The seven teams were: Three Atoms Foxboro Fabrics V.L. Card Construction Reid Sand and Gravel Two Mosguoti R.C.A.F.A. 4l8 Wing Fitzgibbon Construction (Earl DeMille) PeeWee Club Cedars Bantam G. 8 B. Plastering Atoms Foxboro Fabrics coached by Ed Van Rompey won the Thurlow Atom league and all players received tropies donated by Mr. Earl DeMille. Mosquoti Fitzgibbon Construction team coached by E.B. Webber and Jack JeFFs won the Belleville Cup, also the Quinte District Cup and the DeMille Cup. The DeMille Cup donated by Mr. Earl DeMille is a new soccer trophy which is to be given annually to the Thurlow Soccer league only. Along with this cup each team member receives an individual trophy. The Belleville Cup and Quinte Cup was OFFICiaIIy presented to the boys in Ben Bleecker Building in Belleville on September l9, I973. Continued .........
