Alfred Watt carried the story of the movement across to Great Britain and in 1915 an Institute was started in Wales. During the war years, the institutes have fully co- operated with the Red Cross. society in knitting, sewing and Jam making which added much to the comforts of our soldiers and nurses. February 19th, 19s? was the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the founding of Women's Institutes in Ontario. The door is wide open to all women who want to study, to improve for a better life for all. In July 1947, Institute members from all over Canada met in Guelph to PbcDonald College. A Canadian membership of 50,000 women was hoped for, the la rgest membership in any woman's organization.
