STONEY CREEK Thursday February II, I937, will mark the fortieth anniversary of the origin of Womens Institutes founded in Stoney Creek in February IQ, 1897. Four decades of achievement have proved the worthwhile visions held by the charter members who founded this organization, unique among societies for country women. Always in the forefront to lend a helping hand where and when needed, the hundreds of branches since formed are of service in comunity life all the world around. The high ideals with which the Womens Instutes were endowed in the beginning, have been the objective which all the branches have endeavoured to kee in view since the inception of 'the Mother Body. Junior societies have been the outgrowth of mother and daughter.meetings and farm life and sourroundings have been battered through co-operative efforts of father and son, A recent instance of this phenomenal growth was the gathering in June I955 of women delegates from all over the world to a conference in WaShington D,c.
