129 The Horticulturists keep the Russell hacdougall Park in trim shape, and take an interest in the beautification of the entire Village. Elans for a Hall in March of 1949 plans were discussed for a Russell Community Hall. William Booth, Melvin Stanley, and Willis Uarscadden were appointed to interview the Township Council. 55th., Wedding Anniversary Celebrated Mr. and Mrs. John W. Eastman of Russell Village with their family and friends celebrated their 55th., Wedding Anniversary on Eebruary 8th., 1949. Russell Lions In 1949 the Lions President was Dr. F. A. Kinnaird. Among the many activities and speakers of the year we find the following:- The At Home; Burn's Night; Health Talk; necreation discussion; Ontario Brovincial Eolice lecture; Charter might; Dr. Florence Dunlop's address, "Helping Our Children Grow"; Ladies Night; Aid to the Local Hockey Club; Hallowe'en and Christmas Parties for the children of the community; supported the Christmas Seal campaign, and sponsored local public speaking contest for secondary School pupils.
