Spear- headed by the Amherst Island Women's Institute, it will work to restore the fences at Pentland Cemetery, the first cemetery on the Island with the earliest interment being 1831. It is the burial place of Daniel Fowler. 3 The Amherst Island community plans to celebrate its Pentbmd Fine in need afrestoration prominent watercolour artist and settler of the Island. A stonemason has been commissioned to oversee and teach community volunteers the craft, with the hope that the skill will enable the community to restore more fences in the future.
