THE FIRST FREE CHURCH 3‘ June 23, 1849 For a. considerable time past, there has been a growing inclination among the people of Westminster for having a place of worship built on the fifth concession. and on Sabbath last, a meeting for taking this into ‘ consideration was intimated from the pulpit of the Free Church, London, to take place on;the evening of the Monday following. The meeting took place and unanimously agreed to build a. place of worship in connection with the Free Church and appointed the following committee to carry the object of the meeting “ into effect â€"viz- John Glendening, Wm. Murray, Alex Kerr, John Cochrane. Ninian Elliott, John Wilson, Malcolm McInnes, Wm. The original paper is at the University of Western Ontario. After the union of the Free and the United Presbyterian Churches in Canada in 1861, The Fredlongregation at Hubrey united with the First Church, Westminster. After the great Presbyterian Union of 1875, St. Andrew‘s, South Westminster (Church of Scotland) and the First Church became one charge.
