Sunshine Women‘s Institute Tweedsmuir History Book 2 SUNSHINE WOMENS‘ INSTITUTE Submitted by Ruby Proudfoot. Sunshine Women's Institute members and several guests were introduced to the wonderful world of chocolate at their March meeting held at the South Plantagenet Hall. Tammy Lapensee of Vankleek Hill was the guest speaker and after outlining the fine points of making chocolates she proceeded to demonstrate the art. Her preference for the best kind of chocolate to use is Merckins chocolate moulding wafers (light, dark or white). A beautiful tray of finished chocolates and a tray of chocolate-coated strawberries and chocolate- coated pretzels were displayed. (At the lunch hour, the strawberries and pretzels proved to be both beautiful and delicious.) All was in readiness for the audience to try out what they had learned. Eggs. bunnies, ducks and a variety of other shapes were made in various colours and the finished products were carefully bagged to take home for special treats. Tammy was thanked and presented with a gift. Leah Bradley presided over the business meeting and welcomed guests Rita Kirby and Olive Lalonde from Lookout Bay Branch. District President Frankie Higginson, as well as several friends and neighbours. Secretary Marie Wilkes brought us up to date on correspondence and W.I. events and Ruth Proudfoot reported on the financial status. Marie Wilkes, Lila Howard and Pauline Ryan were appointed as a committee to prepare a special class for which we donate prizes to the Riceville Fair. Frankie Higginson brought greetings from the district and reminded all of the District Euchre and Bridge party to be held at South Plantagenet Hall on April 24 at 8 pm.
