We decided to give one hundred dollars towards medical treatment for Calvin Johnson at the benefit dance to be held on Nov. 28“. Ruby Proudfoot introduced her guest speaker, Gary Bradley, councillor of South Plantagenet Township and councillor of the newly formed Nation Township. Gary discussed how plans were made by a transition committee for the new combined unit of government. He covered many aspects of the changeover and answered various questions. Marie gave a report on the area convention and lunch was served by Eunice, Pauline, and Ruby. DECEMBER 18,1997 Eileen Garde welcomed sixteen members to Whispering Pines and her festiver decorated home for the Christmas meeting. Ideas for a “Fair” class should be brought to the February meeting. Invitations are to be sent to Lookout Bay W. I. and to the District President for this meeting. An interesting and lively auction which was conducted by Leah Bradley, netted $169.70. Convenor Anne Nicholas taught the group to make attractive lace angels, a Christmas decoration to add to those we have made in previous years. Eileen and Janna served a delicious‘lunch. JANUARY January was holiday month. FEBRUARY 19, 1998 Valerie Reid welcomed thirteen members and one visitor ( Ila Lennox) to the February meeting. The president, Erin McBride, thanked Valerie for having us and congratulated her for the splendid job she had done at the shelter during the ice storm. The branch had donated margarine costing $42. to the shelter. Having received a letter of resignation from Anne Nicholas, the branch decided to send her a letter of regret and a W. I. spoon.
