Sunshine Women‘s Institute Tweedsmuir History Book 2 searchable pdfa AUGUST 7, 1997 Seven members met at the Riceville Fairgrounds to discuss plans for the Vankleek Hill and Riceville fairs. During the business it was decided to send a twenty-five dollar donation to the Erland Lee Home in memory of Yolande Gadouas, a deceased life member. The area convention will be held on Oct. 20‘h at Carp. W.I. day at the C.C.E.A. will be August 21,1997, and Marg Harris will be there to cut the anniversary cake. Snacks were enjoyed and the meeting was over in record time. SEPTEMBER 18, 1997 Ten ladies met at the Leitrim Fire Hall for the workshop on Painted Canvas which was convened by Erin McBride. The business meeting showed a net profit from Riceville fair to be $835.27 and our share from Vankleek Hill fair to be $217.49. An invitation was received from Hillview branch to attend their meeting . (nine ladies attended). Sunshine is to provide lunch for the District meeting on Oct. 6th at West Hawkesbury Hall, The district education committee is having a workshop on attracting new members with Jane Cooper as guest speaker. Twenty-five dollars was donated to Fournier girls ball team. Claire Wallace was the instructor as we worked on our canvas articles. Place mats and table centres were painted and varnished and resulted in a colourful display. Erin McBride and Ruth Proudfoot served refreshments. OCTOBER 17,1997 A social evening was held at South Plantagenet Hall with husbands and friends attending. A delicious pot luck dinner featuring low fat dishes was enjoyed by all. A brief business meeting was held. The Old Time Fiddlers donated seventy-five dollars to the branch. Two workshops were announced, one re Member Recruitment and a Ragging Workshop. The branch will donate two ten dollar prizes to 4H Achievement Night. Lorraine McKinley thanked the branch for the dinner invitation. Several games of euchre were enjoyed. 41 ‘H
