Eleven members and one Visitor took part in this "fair-planning meeting. Articles were brought to Erin for exhibiting at the C.C.E.A. ----Quilts and stuffed toy - Ruby ----folk art and painted articles -- Anne â€"â€"-- quilted tree skirt â€"- Leah The auction sale, conducted by Leah, netted $56.75. Ruth, Erin, Leah and Pauline were appointed to a "fair meals committee." Eight pounds of baked beans and twenty-four pies were promised for Vankleek Hill Fair for Friday along with servers; Ruth, Erin, Pauline, Anne, Yolande,and Lila.Ruth transported Senior‘s equipment to the fair and Lila will collect it on Saturday evening. The regular turkey meal with all the trimmings is to be served at Riceville Fair on Saturday from 2 pm. to 6 pm. Adults $8.00 Children $2.50.All members are to supply 4 pies and to come at l p.m.on Friday to set up and prepare vegetables. Seven members attended the 80th Anniversary celebration of McCrimmon W.I. on July 1 1th at 2 pm. in Laggan Public School. Afterwards the group went to Morrisburg where they enjoyed a roast beef dinner, followed by a play at Upper Canada Playhouse ( "Ned Durango Came to Big Oak"). Six members attended a special meeting of Dunvegan W.l.on July 25th. Because of the fairs no formal meeting will be held in August. SEPTEMBER 12, 1996 District President, Frankie Higginson, eight Hillview members and two guests met with eleven Sunshine members at S.P.M. Hall for a combined meeting (each branch conducting its own business section). Frankie addressed both groups, congratulated them on their W.l. activities and thanked them for their support of District projects. Ruth reported a profit of $884.61 from Riceville Fair and $121.35 for Sunshine's share from Vankleek Hill Fair. Margarete Morrison from Hillview spoke briefly about her home based business producing several varieties of cheese. 25 a5
