The treasurer reported that a total of $1202. had been donated to community activities during the past year. A donation of ï¬fty dollars was given to Janna Remond to assist the family in their sponsorship of a child from the Chernobyl district in Russia. The Tweedsmuir History was the topic of the program convened by Pauline Ryan and Ruby Proudfoot. Ruby outlined the work done in the books during the past year. One book was on display and all three will be displayed at the June meeting. Pauline spoke about her involvement in heiping to publish the Ryanâ€"Shane Descendents book. Leah Bradley was Sunshine's delegate to the District Annual, hosted by Plantagenet Branch on May 21st in the SP. Municipal Hall. A donation of fifty dollars was given to Pennies for Friendship. Twenty program books, purchased at two dollars each, were given free of charge to the members. JUNE 20, 1996 Ten members and four visitors attended the June meeting hosted and convened by Ruby Proudfoot. Leah Bradley took over as secretary , replacing Marie Wilkes during her illness. Guest speaker was Wyman Bradford, a director on the Board of Hawkesbury General Hospital Foundation. He spoke on the work aand accomplishments of the foundation , then touched on the far reaching effects of Bill 26 passed by the Ontario government in January ,l996. The Maxville Manor Birthday party, convened by Ruth and Ruby, was held on June 26th .Eight residents were given hand crafted stained glass sun catchers as birthday gifts. Music was provided by James and lnez Dixon. Meaghan Proudfoot played the bagpipes and Rachel did highland dancing. Melanie Proudfoot. Sacha Nicholas, Leigh Anneand Hannah Wilkes provided some tap dancing. The three Tweedsmuir History books were on display. 23 23
