5-30 MRS. T. KELLY. There passed away on Friday. March 16th. 1951. the last member of one of Saugeen's pioneer families in the person of Mrs. Thoe. Kelly. in her 96th year. Born Mary McPhee. April 2nd. 1855. on Con- cession 6, Saugeen. she was the daughter of Annie McGillivray and Donald McPhee. who a short time previously had arrived in Canada from Tob- ermory. in the Island of Mull. Scotland. At the age of two years. she moved with her family to Concession 12. Bruce Township. re- ceiving her education in S. S. #13. At the time of her marriage to Theophilus Kelly. on December 28th. 1876. she returned to Saugeen where she lived the remainder of her days. To this union were born 12 children, 6 of whom survive to mourn the passing of a wonderful Mother. and are â€" Margaret. Mrs. Geo. Hopkins of B. 0.; Charles and William of Saugeen; Anne. Mrs. J. E. Johnston of Detroit; May. Mrs. G. Osborne; and Elvina, Mrs. Milton ‘l‘hede of Port Elgin. Also 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Her husband pre- deceased her in 1906. She had a deeply devout Christian characâ€" ter, and took a very active part in all the MRS. DONALD M. Mrs. Donald M. Lamont passed away on Satur- day, October 10th. 1959, after an illness of some 3 months. She had recently been removed to the home of her son. Kent. in Saugeen Township. where death occurred. Born in Anabel Township in July 1891+, deceas- ed was the former Mary Florence Webster, daughter of the late Joseph Howard Webster and Janet Bar- tleman debster. She moved with her parents to the River Road. Saugeen Township. when ten years of age. Prior to her marriage. Mrs. Lamont was a qualified teacher of the piano. and many young peopls in the district reaeived their initial instruction from her. She was organist of the Presbyterian Church at Dunblane and also of the Queen Hill Presbyterian Church. where she also served as Secretaryâ€"Treasurer for many years. She was also a member of the South Saugeen w‘. 1. Of a quiet and kindly disposition. Mrs. Lamont was much beloved by all members of tne communâ€" ity. Mrs. Lamont was married at Toronto in 1916. to Reeve Donald Lamont. of Saugeen Township. and has since resided on the 2nd Concession of Saugeen. In addition to her host-and. she is surâ€" vived by {our sons â€" Donald. Brampton; Kent and Alexander of Sauieen: and Fraser of Bruce phases of church work as long as her health permitted. No appeal for food. clothing or the work of her hands was ever turned from her door. She gave unsparingly to every call and her many deeds of neighbourly and Christian kindness will live long in the hearts of a wide circle of friends. For years she was a member of the Presbyter- ian Church of Canada. and later of St. Andrew's United Church; a life member of the w. M. 5.. and also a member of the South Saugeen W. I. The funeral was held from the Davey Funeral Home in Port Elgin to Sanctuary Park Chapel on Monday. March 19th. at 2.}0 p.m. The pallbearers were old friends of the de- ceased - George Jamieson. Neil McGillivray, John Bell. William Forrester. Thomas Howe and Charles Nelson. Four of the grandsons were the flowerbearers - Charles and Kelvin Leslie. Irwin Thede and Charles Kelly Jr. The funeral serVice was conducted by Rev. N. H. Martin. pastor of St. Andrew's Church. assisted by Rev. C. N. Peddon. a former pastor and friend. LA MONT . Township; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Mc- Gillivray. Marion. of Bruce Township and Mrs. Ear; williamson. Janotta, of Hamilton; two brothers. Howard Webster of Saugeen and Ric 'd aehstor of Tiverton; a sister. Mrs. G. [2,4'1!‘ "urJorie Qakville. 'l‘hr-rnâ€" are nineteen grandchildren. Funeral services. conducted by Rev. Maurice D. Mcluahb. were held from Tolmie Memorial Pres- byterian Church. Port Elgin. on Monday. October 12th, dith inzerment in sanctuary Park.
