M '24? GRASS FARM . Saugeen mp” Lot 33, Con. 1. Mr. Hugh McCulloch. Lot 33, Concession l, Saugeen Township, was taken from the Crown on April 2L, 1866, by Lachlan McArthor, who came from the Isle of Mull, Scotland, in the early 1850‘s. He cleared the land into cultivated acres, and built a log, barn which was taken down nearly fifty years ago, about 1909 â€" 19l0. He also built a Iramehouse, which was moved to Lot 27, Bruce ’1‘wp., and which, at the present time, is being used as a driving shed. His wife, being Flora Beaton, to this union were born - Annie, Mrs. Jack l'ichol, now living in Toronto; lsabell, married and living in California, and Hector, a medical doctor and surgeon, living at the present time in Orlando, Florida; all of the three are in their late eighties, and also a son, Alex. who died a few years ago. Lachlan LLcArthur died in May lQll, and his wife died a few years later. In February l902, this property was sold to Hugh McArthur, who was known as “Klondyke MCAX‘EDUJ‘”. Some few years later, the farm was sold to Colin McArthur, and after his death it was sold to McLeod Craig, the son of George Craig of Paisley, in March of 1937. On February 9, l9h2, McLeod Craig sold it to Walter Leader, then of Saugeen Townâ€" ship. In the Spring of l9h8, Walter Leader sold the land to A. Roy Howe, also of the lst Concession, Saugeen. In April, 1950 Roy Howe sold the property back to Walter Leeder. In March 1957, Walter Leader sold the land to Hugh McCulloch, of Bruce Township, who is the present owner. For many years this property was used for pasturing cattle, with the exception of a few years while owned by Walter Leeder, when it was used for mixed farming.
