Mr. Ross Currie. HIGHLANDS FARM. 91â€"4] Seugeen Twp., Lot 21+ & 27, Can. 1. Among the very early settlers coming to Saugeen Township, was John Hutchinson, his wife, Elizabeth, and their three children, Susan, Donald and James. They arrived in Canada, from Scotland, in 1852, and after farming at Kleinburg, near Kitchener, for seven years, they moved to the 6th Concession of Saugeen Township. In 1866, a daughter, ElizabethJ was married to Dougald Currie. In June 1873, Mr. Currie purchased from the Crown, a. tract of land, being Lot 21., Concession 1, Saugeen, consisting of 100 acres, the pur- chase price at. that time was {200.00. Mr. Currie then made an additional purchase of 100 acres of land, being Lot 27, Conâ€" cession l, Saugeen. Much hard work was done in clearing the land, and making a home. A log house was built, and also a barn, and in 1893 the present brick dwelling was erected. Mr. and Mrs. Dougald Currie had three children â€" Susan, Mrs. William Rowand, Donald and James. In April 1397, Donald Currie married Sarah Ross of Bruce Township, and around the year 1913, they assumed operation of the home farm. Their family of four children are - James of Port Elgir-, Ame at home, Bessie, Mrs. Angus McDonald of Southampton, and Ross, who now owns the farm, Lots 21+ and 27. Hydro was installed in the buildings in 19%, and in 1952 a new steel driving shed was built.
