Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Kelly This farm has a very interesting history. The land was taken out from the Crown, (Proâ€" vince of Ontario) in September 1868 as a School Sale Grant for 3200 by Joseph Neelands. In 7870 Joseph Neelands sold to John Banting for $3,000.00. Peter McGillivray in 1873 pur- chased 200 acres from John Banting for $7.550. In 1880 Neil McGillivray acquired the proâ€" perty and 31.000. changed hands. In 1889 Mr. McGillivray sold the land to the London and Canadian Loan and Agency Co. for 92,h50, and the records indicate that in 1897 at a Tax Sale at'the Arlington Hotel in Port Elgin, the property was acquired from the Canadian Loan and Agency Co. by Mr. John Rock for the sum of $2,000.00 In February 1902 John Rock sold to William Burgess for $2,300.00. In April 1902, Mr. Burgess sold to George Craig for $2,500.00. In 1903, Mr. Craig sold to Janet Brunton for $3,000.00 2- I51 Lot 21. Concession 1, Saugeen. In 1945 Mrs. Janet Brunton sold the farm to Herman Eoettger for $2.NO0.00. The records show that Mr. Boettger sold the property for the sum of 31.00 to himself. in 1949. In 1956 Florence Kelly purchased the pro- perty from the Herman Boettger estate for the sum of 8h,500.00. The buildings on the farm were removed. The house by Dave Chappell and the barn was re- built as a driving shed at John A. Howe's farm on the Elora Road, now owned by John Bryce. After Florence Kelly purchased this pro- perty two tile drains were run into the front east field. The tillaole land has been broken and re-seeded. This is the third time in the history of Lots 21 and 22 that one family owned this property.
