Several members were busy knitting toqucs, mitts and preemie outfits which we donated to the Children's Hospital in Lendon. In May 2000, our W.I. toured the London Court House, Iunched at Harmony Restaurant and later enjoyed a tour of Eldon House, London‘s oldest home. A plant sale earlier in May almost covered the $60 cost of the tour. An entry each year is made to both Western Fair and Dorchester Fair. Considerable planning goes into these entries. During the year 2000-2001 our W.I. ladies were blessed with special speakers atfeach of this year's meetings. In September we were informed by a chicken farmer of the work involved in raising the meat we find in our grocery stores. Our Health meeting brought a lady who suffers from Lupus telling of what to expect and how to control said disease. One of our members belongs to Women's Farmers of Canada and she spoke of what is involved there. At our Christmas meeting a demonstration was given using real plants and parts of plants in deeoratin g our homes. For our Tweedsmuir History meeting we were each given a booklet prepared by the Mossley Historic Society describing and locating twelve different historic buildings (churches included) found in Thames Centre (formerly North Dorchester Township). In February we were entertained by Travelogue to Costa Rica by a Thamesford lady. In June we visited the McIntosh Gallery at U.W.O. where Catherine Shaw is the able curator. She was the special speaker at one of our earlier meetings. We were sorry to lose one of our most valued members this year due to cancer.
