It was recalled at this time, that a social was 'held on the same lawn in 1915, hosted by Mrs. D. J. Campbell. This special year, we entered a float in the Arnprior Christmas Parade. In the fifties, the membership increased to forty members and the meetings were held in the Pine Grove School. Many of the members gradually returned to work, thus we have a small membership at present. The Branch through the years gave support to the Pine Grove School, by purchasing a piano and chairs. etc. An Annual Award was given by the W.I., to the child making the greatest academic Improvement in the School Year. Since the school closed, the Annual Award is given to the boy or girl showing the greatest improvement in the Special Education Class at Walter Zadow Public School or Alexander Reid P.S. The Branch was instrumental in having the bell from S.S.#9, erected on the authentic school in the Park at White Lake, by the Renfrew County Board of Education. We brought to the attention of McNab Council, the necessity of having a pick up of extra Spring cleanâ€"up garbage, that could not be disposed of otherwise. The necessity of road Signs in the Area, thus Pine Grove would not become oblivious. This year, we decided to commemorate the early settlers of the Community for our 75th Anniversary Project. Thus the Cairn was made possible by donations from Branch members, Community, former students of S.S.#9 and other supporters. A special thank you to Reeve Russett, Council, Recreation COmmittee and Road Superintendent Murray Langford for their assistance in obtaining a site, erecting the Flag Pole and maintenance in the future. Their time and effort are sincerely appreciated. The Theme for 1989â€"90 "Women in Environment.
