They were divided into three groups, each with a very knowledgeable tour guide. The tour showed from beginning to end how a manifold is manuâ€" factured. The first step was the making of a mould from sand. From this mold a cast was made into which hot metal was poured, making one man, ifold every 14 seconds. The metal is made from scrap iron and fired to 28.000 degrees. At one point, magnesium is added causing a very bright flash of light. The finished product goes through a quality control section to ensure a superior product. The manifolds are then sent to the Braiitford Plant to have the holes prcCision made. They make manir folds for every type of engine. They used to make stoves but now they only manufacture manifolds.
