v’v‘ WOMEN'S INSTITUTE HALL (KAIRSHEA) - continued FURNISHINGS: Three extension tables, a sideâ€"board, rocking chair and a refrigâ€" erator were all donated. Folding and stacking chairs were purchased. For extra we purchased planks and butter boxes to set them on at a cost of $2.00. A secondâ€" hand electric stove cost $35.00 with hookâ€"up and installation costing $25.00. In 1962 we purchased a child's crib and a daybed for $10.00, 4 card tables costing $28. The school bell was sold for $50.00, teachers desk for $10.00 and the woodshed sold for $20.00. MONEYâ€"RAISING PROJECTS: For many years we had a Calico Ball in the spring of the year and a St. Andrew's Ball in the Fall. Later these were discontinued with the Changing interest of the public. We now make quilts and do quilting for others. A 1967 "Centennial Rose” quilt was made, tickets sold and we realized a profit of $375.00. We do some catering to weddings for w.1. member families or for our 4â€"H girls if asked to do so. In the last year or two we have been catering to the Lion's Club suppers, about three times a year. For a number of years we have run the lunch booth and catered a supper at the Lucknow Craft Festival. We will also run a lunch booth at an auction sale in the community if asked to do so. MEMBERSHlP 1960 â€" 30 members _ 1970 â€" 3O “ 1980 3 ” on Kairshea W.I. as a UFWO Club endowed a room at Wingham and District Hospital at a cost of 4400.00. Later another room was endowed by Kairshea W.I. in the new wing at the Hospital. Mirror for hospital room $19.00. A blanket, chair and other items were also purchased. In 1978 our Institute members were instrumental in creating in supplying toys for the children‘s ward at Wingham & District hospital. Many other W.l.'s and service organizations joined in on the project. Over $2h0.00 was donated to this project to buy new toys...good used toys were also collected.
