Public, Secondary, Further education. of scholarship or award â€" interest from invested money â€" amount taken from W] funds yearly. give details. school value In reply to your request in the Fall issue of Home & Country 1979 re our Women's Institute Hall, I submit the following: The pupils of our 8.8. #5 Kinloss Township, situated on the corner of Bruce County Road #1 and Concession #6, had been taken by bus to the school at Holyrood Therefore, in December 1960 the Women's Institute purchased With this we also obtained School desks for a number of years. the school building from our ovm school system for $1.00. the piano, teacher's desk and a large box stove, which we still use. had been moved to the Holyrood school. The current w.1. executives in office were to be the Trustees of the Inâ€" stitute Hall . ing, and other community gatherings. In recent years it has been used as a polling booth on voting day. If an outside organization use the hall they make a donation, we do not have a rental fee. An Honour Roll hangs in the hall with names of deceased members recorded since we organized as a Women's Institute in Jan. 1947. WATER SYSTEM â€" There was a good drilled well on the property when we purchased. In 1964 a neighboring farmer was permitted to pipe water across the road to his farm In 1965 we purchased a doubleisink for the hall, cost $10.00. The farmer installed a waterâ€"tap in the hall for us...tota1 cost of installation was $47.75. to our hall for which we pay $20.00 per year. In November 1979 a new water main from our well. In later years the flow of water was reversed, from his newly drilled well was laid from the farm property where our hall is situated on the corner acerage. Our W.I. paid for the digging of the trench and the plastic piping at a cost of $348.00. REPAIRS AND UPKEEP â€" In 1966 we put a new roof on the hall, a racoon had gotten into The steel roof cost $260.00 plus In 1967 we installed a new ceiling in the attic and made several holes in the roof. $134.00 for labour, for a total of $394.00. the hall for a total cost of $226.00. $99.00 and new curtains hung costing $54.00. In 1962 the interior was painted at a cost of In l974 the interior was again painted at a total cost of $112.00 for labour and $314.00 for paint, with new curtains costâ€" ing $34.00. In 1976 new siding was put on the outside of the hall at a cost 01 $1,094.00. We applied for and received a Ninterio grant of $537.00.
