Glasgow Women's Institute - Book 2 WILLIAM LAVENTURE (1968) LOT 20, Con. 6 The first owner of this property was John Murphy, with his wife Liza Mackie. They had one daughter, Elizabeth, who married James Hutson. (J.B.) The farm changed hands, with the next owner being Robert Carswell, who had built a house at Glasgow. He lived in the village for a short time, and then exchanged his Glasgow home for that of James Hutson. Robert Carswell‘s second oldest daughter married Henry Simpson and farmed there, along with 50 acres below the 8th line. The farm was finally purchased by the present owner, William Laventure, but the reâ€" maining 50 acres which was still the property of Robert Carswell Sr., has changed hands in the Carswell family, with the last owner being Lester Carswell. This house was built by Robert Carswell, where he lived for a short time. Other occu- pants were Mr. & Mrs. James B. Hutson, who kept the Post Office, Mr. & Mrs. J.
