It is noted asâ€"unc/earâ€") Glasgow Station was the Mecca of the third annual district meeting of the Women's Institutes, of the South riding of Renfrew county on Friday of last week June 10th. Of the ten branches now organized, eight were represented, a good showing con- sidering the unpropitious weather and the condition of the roads. Fair weather could have assisted much to the pleasure of the day. the picturesque surroundings being Ideal for an outing. The president. Mrs. J. V. Blane, occupied the chair. Atten- dance been very encouraging. At the first annual meeting only three Institutes were represented. The members had been willing to help, they got to know each other betâ€" ter and the country around them. Only two branches had not been visited by some of the volunteers The secretary- treasurer's report gave the following statistics: Castleford, held ten meetings, receipts were $53; expenditures, $43. North Horton: 18 members; 9 meetings There was a short talk on benefits of Institute work, the broadening of the minds, the bringing together of the members and its social conscience. We had not had to sac- rifice this land of plenty, but if doing we can we are helping just as those at the front. unclear God and Home and Native Land†kept before us. The delegates gave verbal or written reports of the doings of the year.
