Glasgow Women's Institute Book 1 Glasgow WI â€" St. Patrick’s concert â€" 1956 District VVI‘s Exhibit Rugs at Renfrew The Kirk Hall, Renfrew, was draped with 83 hooked rugs on Thursday, April 24. These rugs were made by members of twelve local Institutes which organized early in the year Since Training Schools, local leaders and assistants have been instructing others in their communities how to make a hooked rug using scraps of wool materials. This is a new type of programme made available through the Home Economics Serâ€" vice of the Ontario Department of Agriculture. Miss Florence Wright, a specialist in rug making, was in charge of the programme. Mrs. Hector Scheel acted as chairman of the afternoon programme which was enjoyed by those who had made rugs as well as 32 visitors. Members of Goshen WI orchestra presented several musical selections. Badges were presented to the leaders by Miss Barbara Clark, County Home Economist. Comments on the various rugs were given by Miss Wright Following these comments, a film enti- tled "Eye of an Artist" was shown. Miss Clark took a vote for the Training School to be taken next fall.
