Glasgow Women's Institute Book 1 Glasgow Women’s Institute Meeting - Jan. 27 1953 Discussion of a short course on the subject, ‘Brighten your home with color”, to take place in the early spring, formed an interesting part of the business session of Glasgow Women‘s Institute, assembled for the January meeting at the home of Mrs. T. Carswell. Since information from the Institute Department in Toronto was to the effect that the Braeside Bunch had also chosen this subject for a short course, the suggesâ€" tion was made that the two groups be invited to Join forces on this occasion, and Mrs. M. Stewart, the Glasgow secretary, was asked to contact Braeside on the matter. Other business matters given attention were the distribution of money bags for the "Penny Round Up”, to assist with the work on mental health, and discussion of the prize lists for Renfrew fair. It was decided to enter the fair competitions for Institutes again this year. Historical research was the program topic for the month, with Mrs. A. Carswell as convener, A most interesting and original feature was a paper prepared by Mrs. Carswell on the origin and development of crochet work, to which she added a display of beautiful crocheted pieces, pointing up varied stitches.
