V!.1 May 1981. To Whom It May Concern: While visiting Bruce County Museum in Southampton last year I was surprised to find an empty binder on the shelves with Stokes Bay's name on the cover. From the Director, I learned that all Tweedsmuir Books of Village History were to be copied by the Institutes and placed in their respective binders in the Museum. I couldn't think of anyone who would be interested in that task so I took the binder home with me. Having reached the ripe old age of seventy - and trying to go down hill gracefully - the thought of doing all that typing over again just gave me a trauma â€" to say the least! Taking the lazy way out- I hunted up all my old copies and drafts of what is now in the Stokes Bay Book, and entered it willyâ€"nilly in the Museum copy. me but, anyone interested will just have to take the crummy copies mistakes and all â€" better than none at all. So forgive Anyone wishing to do the whole thing over with spanking new copy is welcome to do so. I have tried to include items of interest to the whole Peninsula, There will but remember memories grow dim with the passing and pictures gathered from our own family collection. be errors in stories, of time, and we were not smart enough to get around and get the stories while they were still fresh in the teller's mind. Please give proof of any corrections. Anyone who wishes to copy any of the material is welcome to do so as long as credit is given to the writer. with exceptions noted, all of this book, and the Stokes Bay Tweedsmuir Book, has been done by this writer. Just sorry I no longer have the energy to do a better job. My heart is with the Bruce in all its many facets; The only relatives of the early pioneers left in the village of Stokes Bay are_Gordon Smith, son of Alex Smith, and Barbara Murray Elliott, granddaughter of John L. McIver and Angus Murray. The original 100 acres farm owned by Malcomothe-Bone McIver is now owned by his great gannddaughter, Mrs Rob. Colton, of Brantford. There are none of the Murray or Mclver name left. Cheers, Helene Murray Scott) 17 Kawartha Drive, Lindsay, Ont. -l‘
