Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald and Venus Robinson met when they were both working at l i l McVicars Farm some ten miles l“ south of Tobermory. Sandy was lumbering and u‘vVenus was the cook. ' They were married in the 4United Church Manse in Wiar- Quinn on January 25, 1915. The ‘-' a,;F!everend E.L. Flagg performed vi the ceremony. 5'. Venus was “a good cook and v .agood manager," and Sandy, "a 'ii'Lateady worker and good provid- §r" a ï¬rm foundation on which build a 65 year marriage. ‘. :4 Sandy's grandparents came i “from Scotland as young children over 100 years ago and settled in the Ripley and Goderlch areas. (Sandy and Venus enjoy a J {rocking chair in their home ‘liii'which was brought from Scot» Mind by one of his great-grand- ‘Jiy'l'parents. giviCelebrates 65th Anniversary The couple remained at the McVicar Farm tor the first two years of their marriage then moved to Lion‘s Head. Sandy was a well known and highly respected carpenter and mason lor torty years. For the next eleven years, Sandy was superintendent at Craigleith Park near Coiling- wood. They spent their summers at the park and their winters in Wiarton where Sandy did main- tenance and repair work at local camps. in 1970, they retired and settled permanently in Wlarton. Sandy's hobbies are llshlng and hunting, although he has "no luck". Venus reads a lot. writes a lot of letters, quilts and cooks. They are members of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church.
