Themonthly‘llervie WI meeting was ‘ holdup Aug. 2_in our hall. We had an interesting meeting because "the‘hydro was off, so we had our meeting with lamps. flashlights and candles. It was quite cozy. President Virene Thompson opened the meeting with poems, "August" and “Seniors Moment" followed with 0‘ Canada. Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. The roll call was given .by nine members and one guest. It was, “How to protect yourself from a fall." Minutes of the last meeting were read and the financial report was given. Correspondence was read and a motion Berniâ€"e WI meets in” was made by Janice Hewitt and seconded by Sandra MacDonald [0 pay the bills. The women discussed the Kincardinc Fall Fair display and are working on it. The meeting was. turned over to Janice Hewitt, who planned to have a video on “Stay on your feet". but with no hydro. she was unable to have this. but there was an interwting talk instead. She told us that one of three seniors will experience a fall each year and most of these will fracture limbs and a lot are hip fractures. Seniors are injured at home more than anywhere else. The bathroom and stairs are dangerous. The meeting began with the Opening Ode, Mary Stewart Col~ lect and God Save The Queen. hiejDfiiseussion centred around preparing for the 100th anniversary celebration. It was de: cided to enjoy a catered dinner? aint the outâ€" side of t e hall, plant a tree and to fly a flag. A 7' tea will be held in the fall. Then the usual re- ports were heard. Margaret Harkness installed the 2007~2008 officers: past president Virene Thompson: pres» ident Isabel McConnell; vice president Mildred Grifiith; secretary-trea- surer Betty Jean White; and assistant Sandra MacDonald. Branch di- rectors are Elsie Schu- ler, Sylvia Hasbury and Virene Thompson. Dis- trict director is Virene Thompson. with alter- nate Elsie Schiller. Committees include: advocacy, Betty Jean Thompson; curator. Mil- dredGriffith; fall fair. Sandra MacDonald and Islay Eby; sunshine. Ha- zel Jean McLelland; euchre. Mildred Griffith: building, Isabel McConâ€" nell, Betty Anne Thomp- son and Hanna Splett~ stoesser; planning, Betty Anne Thompson, Hazel Jean McLelland and Isabel McConnell; finan- cial examiners, Hewitt and Reina Arnold: nominations.
