Belmont- Methuen Townships choose official crest Elizabeth McLean winner Last May the Townshi s of Belmontâ€" Methuen staged a contest or Grades 6 and 7 of Have|ock-Belmont Public School for an official crest to be adopted by the townships. The contest was su ervised by Don Mathews. vice-principal o the school. with the choice of the winning crest to be based upon originality and artistic ability. A panel of judges made up of local residents and members of Belmont- Methuen Council chose the winning entries. The crest was to include some or all of the following: local industries, farming, recreation and tourism and terrain. There was to be a free choice of colour and with a banner stating “The United Townships of Belmont and Methuen". First prize was SE. second 515 and third 55. The contest winners have now been chosen and are: first. Elizabeth McLean. second Jackie Watson and third Jimmy Roffcy, Runnersrup are Carol Lynn Ellis. Dcnise Wrightly and Sandra Preston. Honorable mention was given to Danny Fox and Lcila McFaul. Judges were Mrs. Marion McMillan. Mrs. Jean Anderson. Mr. Art Waterman.
