l y y In the 1580's, when this photograph was taken, most of Renfrew’s business was done near the upper end of Raglan Street. It was near here that most of the traffic from McNab, Bagot and much of Horton had to enter the village Travel to and from Admaston, Brougham. Grattan and beyond was by the Opeongo Road which joined Raglan Street at this point r r The British Hotel, the big building with the verandahs, had been a hotel from the very I early days of the village, It was demolished in 1929 to make 7651170: M J Sullivan’s McCall Frontenac Service Station, now the Texaco. The large building next to the ‘ hotel was the Barr and Wright store, one of Rentrew's busiest places of business. It had been built in 1881 by David Barr and A A Wright who had (armed a partnership in 1870 when they took over the old establisimh store of William Airth.
