St. George. Ontario NOE 1N0 (519)448-1130 BRIEFLY . . . from the Editor This issue’s front cover picture is of Jennie Mclnnes, the new President of FWIC who was installed at the recent Triennial Conâ€" vention held at Memorial University in St. John‘s, Newfoundland. Jennie lives in Pictou, Nova Scotia and is married to Donald McInnes, who is the Minister of the Environment in the governâ€" ment of Nova Scotia. She is a licensed teacher in that province and until 1983 shared in the operation of a family farm of dairy animals and market hogs. She has four daughters, all married, and four grandchildren. She has led a very active life, particularly in the volunteer sector and has been a leader in, among other organizations, 4â€"H, the United Church, the Board of the Victorian Order of Nurses, and Sunday School. From 1974â€"78 she was a municipal Counâ€" cillor for Pictou County and sat on various County committees. She is also a volunteer member of the Regional Advisory Council for the Department of Employment and Immigration and in 1986 was appointed by the federal government to the Farm Debt Review Board for Nova Scotia. Before Jennie was elected to the Board of FWIC in 1982 she held a number of posiâ€" tions in the Women‘s Institutes of Nova Scotia, up to and including President. Jennie is an excellent seamstress and when you see her at your provincial meetings it is quite possible that she has made the lovely outfit that she is wearing. She is an extremely talented person I know that all members of WI. extend a warm welcome to Jennie in the responsible position that she will hold for the next three years. ALICE MCLAGGAN
