-16- THE ARNPRIOR HIGH SCHOOL 1865-1922 â€" Continued ***2‘;*:t=****at:***=t=t=‘m<******#************#******s m FOUR MASTER SCHOOL In September 1905 the Entrance Class was so large that "For In 1" had to be divided into two classes, known as"lA", and "13" â€" 13 being placed in one of the rooms in "The Old Public School“. Miss Edna Davidson was the fourth teacher required; had charge of Lower School School Science and general Junior work, and left in June 1906. From October 1905 to June 1907, Miss Mabel Margaret Jeanette Beird,B.A. , (Toronto); a Specialist in English,Moderns and History, had charge of the classes in English and Modems and proved herself to be an excellent teacher. Upon leaving Arnprior, she returned to her home at Toronto Junction f or a couple years' rest before again taking a position. During the last three years she has been teaching Modems and History in the Morr isburg Collegiate Institute. From June 1906 to June 1908, Mr.Alexander Campbe11,B.A.,(Toronto), a Specialist in Mathematics, had charge of the work in Mathematics. Before coming here, he was on the staff of the S'arnia Collegiate Institute,and since leaving has been Principal of the High Schooh in Waterdown, Caledonia,shelburne and 'Glencoe. From September 1906 to June 1907,Miss May McDonald Urquhart,B.A. ,(Toronto) , had charge of the work in Science. Her previous teaching experience was gained in the Oakville High School. She is described as “A good teacher with plenty of energy; a good singer, and fond of social life". Shortly after resigning her position here she went to Calcutta, India, where she married Dr.Leslie C.Colema.n, who was sent there by the British Government to do research work in entymology. Some years ago Mrs. Coleman died in India. From September 1907 to June 1908, Miss Hattie Georgiana McPherson, B.A., (Queen's); a Specialist in Modems, had charge of the work in English and Modems. Before coming here she was on the staff of the Athens High School; and now has a good position in the Department of Public Works, Ottawa. JOHN FERGUSON From September 1908 to October 1909, Mr. John Ferguson, B.A.,(Queen's), a Specialist in Mathematics had charge of the work in that Department. He then became Principal of the Aurora High School, where he remained for six years. At Waterdown he was Principal for three years and in January 1922 was appointed Principal of the Gananoque High School. From September 1908 to June 1909, Miss Ada Louise Ward, M.A.,(Toronto) , a Specialist in Modems and History, had charge of the work in English and Moderns. She is a younger sister of Miss Clara A.Ward, who was here from September 1901. to October 1905. On leaving Arnprior, Miss Ada L.Ward,Joined the teaching staff of Gravenhurst High School. There her Principal was Mr.Thomas Hobbs,who taught Mathematics and Science here from 1901. to 1906. On leaving Gravenhurst Miss Ward went to the G alt Collegiate Institute,where she remained for five years, since September 1917 she has been teaching in the Niagara Falls College I nst itute . /S'
