Some of the outstanding students were mentioned: David Budd is a fur dealer in Renfrew, Ont. John Wesley Defoe is Vice-President and Managing Editor of the Manitoba Free Press, and is considered one of the ablest editorial writers in the Dominion. Albert Edward Doherty is in business in Chicago; Thomas Daniel Galligan is practising Medicine in Eganville, 0nt., Edwin Farmer is in business in Arnprior, and his brother George is in Montreal; and William Hamilton Lambert is a well known physician in Moose Jaw, Sask.;Robert Goodwin is a physician at McAuley, Manitoba; George F . Macnab is an Insurance and Real Estate Agent in Arnprior; Andrew Russell is Manager of a large farm property at Sovereign, Sask.; Edmund Shorey is a distinguished graduate of Queen's University, for several years was analyst for a large sugar corporation at Honolulu,and is now doing research work for the Department of Agriculture, at Washington, D.C.John R. Tierney is C.P.R.T icket Agent at Arnprior; and Albert Ward has a large motor repair shop at the corner of Elgin and Harrington Streets. There were 11 students admitted in the calendar Year 1882. After five years of faithful and efficient service, Mr. F.F.Macnab,resigned his position as Principal to establish the Insurance business later carried on by his son Mr. George F. Macnab, who has been a member of the Board of Education for the last twelve years. RICHARD DAWSON During the calendar year 1883, Mr.Richard Dawson, B.A., a highly trained and brilliant graduate of Dublin University, was Principal of this School, and Mr. H.L.Slack, M.A., was his Assistant. There were 16 students admitted during this year. There were to outstanding students in this group - Percival John Cooney distinguised himself by writing a novel entitled "The Kinsmen" and Charles Macnamara as an expert photographer of rare plants and insects made many valuable contributions to Science in the field of entomology. LEWIS CHRISTOPHER CORBETT The sixth Principal was Mr. L.C.Corbett, B.A.(Toronto) , who was here from January 1881; to June 1891. During these seven and a half years the affairs of the school were well administered. His admirers describe him as "An excellent teacher, a great favourite with his students, and a most enthusiastic hunter". During the entire time that he was here Mr. W. Barclay Craig was his First Assistant â€" being promoted to the position of Principal when Mr. Gorbett accepted a position on the staff of the Sarnia Collegiate Institute, where he remained for several years. Later Mr. Corbett lived at Huntville, Wash., where he died in January 1920. /0
