Grey South Dromore Women's Institute members gathered for the Official opening of a new Community Park in which they had taken an interest. North and South Ranfrew District WI These Districts combined their efforts to enter a float in the opening and closing pa- rades at the International Plowing Match held in Renfrew County. The theme was the International Year of the Family. and the figures on the float were dressed as lions to coincide with the popular Lion King movie. Moyle WI, Brant North Topics ofdiscussion at Branch meetings in 1994 included: the importance of reading to young children to establish Iife~long reading habits: the work of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind; and. the proper and improper use of pesticides and the introduc- tion of Environmental Farm Plans. Victoria East District WI For the second year. Women's Institutes from this District held a Big Bucks Euchre and Luncheon at the Burnt River-Somewillt. Centre. Each of the nine Branches in the District contributed muffins for the coffee breaks and pics for the luncheon. People came from all over the County to this suc- cessful money-raiser. The York Centre District Women‘s Institute held an Open House to honour one of their members for receiving the Senator Cairine Wilson Trophy and Rose Bowi. Loreen Amber (above) train the Vendor!
