Seymour East WI, Northumberland East Draw tickets were sold on a quilt made by the members of Seymour East WI. Branch member Jean Twigg also made an afghan and Branch President Jessie Poulton crafted a quilted bag. One half of the proceeds were donated to the FWIO Headquarters Fund. Beckwith WI, Lanark North Members from this Branch donated $500 to the Headquarters Fund from the proceeds made by catering to a large antique auction. London Area WI This Area held a series of successful work- shops entitled “At Your Request," which evolved from suggestions by members. A session called “Marketing and Communica- tion" provided many ideas and workable suggestions for members to promote the or- ganization. “Justice Without Fear." put on by the Battered Women‘s Advocacy Centre, gave an overall picture of services available and upâ€"tddate legislation. Other workshops dealt with personal and home security and wardrobe coordinates and wise purchasing. Lunch was provided by the South Lobo WI. Bruce East District WI ~ Women from each of the eleven Branches In this District took turns over threeâ€"days to help produce a quilt. The proceeds from the quilt draw were given to a variety of WI projects. Half of the money was sent to the Grey Bruce Centennial Quilt Committee in support of the competition. The other half was split between the FWIO Headquarters Fund and the purchasing of chairs for the Bruce County Museum, which was started by W] members. The Women's Institutes have also helped the Ag in the Classroom Com- mittee plan “The Roots of Bruce" for Grade 6 students. More than one thousand students were bussed in over a three-day period to participate in the special event. The volun- teers staffing the commodity displays were sewed hot meals supplied by WI members. St. Paul‘s WI, Perth South Marlene Archer. the London Area Women‘s Institute representative on the Auxiliary ofthe Childrens Hospital. recently spoke to the St. Paul‘s Branch. Branch mem- ber Miriam Dunbar presented Mrs. Archer with 175 finger puppets. 800 Heinz baby food jar labels and a cheque for the Hospital Auxiliary.
