Parry Sound North The November meeting of this Branch was open to the entire area in order to gather information for the third volume of "The Chisholm Story." The previous two volumes were on view and it is their hope to have the third volume together early in the new year. Members also held a gigantic yard and bake sale; all participants donated ten percent of their sales to the Branch. Capetown Women's Institute members are bus‘y working on a banner ior their Branch to use a! various upcoming functions. They also reported having sent 755 knitted squares to Zambia. Branch President. presented 25 Year Pins to members Ethel Stein. Margue- rite Stire. Pauline Dudgeon. Doris Rollins and Lorraine Trotter. Each of them volunteer in the community of Madoc in a variety of ways: collecting for the Canadian Cancer Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. helping at weddings and showers and assist- ing with 4â€"H and the local fall fair. She warned that we need to take ourselves lightly and life seriously. She noted that it is ok. to make mistakes and to learn from them. Branch President Orlie Vandenbrink presented a $300 cheque to the Sparta Public School to go towards purchasing computer equipment. Lamlash WI. Grey Centre Lamlash members sponsored a Harvest Tea and a Craft and Bake Sale last fall. Several door prizes and a cash draw prize were of- fered. The event was a huge success for the Lamlash Branch and saw a number of area residents take home prizes. Belwood WI. Wellington Centre This Branch served about 340 guests at a fund raising chicken barbecue held at their local community hall. The event raised money for upcoming centennial Branch ac- tivities and projects. This Branch happily reports the addition of a new member last September and the possibility of another. Durham West District made this float torboth the Blackstack and Crane Fall Fairs. Members are pictured (at left) holding banners representing. the five Branches in the District.
