SELF‘PROFILE! was born and raised in Haldi- mand County on a dairy farm. As a child, I was active in 4â€"H Homemaking Clubs sponsored by the Riverside WI in Brant County. I exhibited cooking. sewing and crafts at the Caledonia fall fair, where my parents were very active. Later, I was a member of the Holstein Calf Club, the Junior Farmers and the Junior Women‘s Institute. I met my husband. Don, through Junior Farmers, and after we married we settled in Caistorville in Lincoln County. There, I joined the Women’s Institute with my mother»in-law. My husband joined the Ontario Provincial Police. which then took us to London and Lucan. First. I transferred to the Clandeboye WI. and then to the Thedford, Forest and Ravenswood Branches. I have held many positions at the Branch level, as well as on the North Lambton District and Southwestern Area WI. My family consists of three sons and three daughters. Five of our children settled in Lambton County, while the youngest son has settled in North Western Ontario. Our next move was to Prescott in Eastern Ontario, where I became a member of the Leila Pettigrew: WI Member on the Move By Leila Pettigrew Maynard Branch. Our final move was to ThunderBay. I joined the Jumbo Gardens WI and presently serve as Treasurer and Presi- dent of the Thunder Bay District. From 1986 to 1989 I served as Board Director for Sub- division 31. The Women‘s Institute has been a great learning experience and an excellent vehicle to become acquainted with neighbours and communities. Getting involved with the WI made relocating much easier because we are all like sisters in this organization. I currently operate my own sewing busi- ness from my home. I teach sewing and serging at my home and at the local commu~ rrity college. I look forward to the challenges of being the provincial Resolutions Convener and will work to the best of my ability to serve our organization.
