A New Year's Levee Moore Centre and Eirkhall Wls hosted a New Year’s Levee in January. About 75 people tram the commu- nities and surrounding areas attended. The aftemoon included a reenactmenl of the first Institute meeting at Stoney Creek and a portrayal oi Lady Tweedsmuir, Local Tweedsmuii History Books were on display, along with artifacts from the Victorian era tram the Moore Museum. Lamblon Centre Welland West and East Districl WI The Educational Project for these two Dis- tricts was a presentation by “Coco.†a local .gourmet cooking expert, on Victorian Teas. It featured a sampling and study of many teas and fancy sandwich techniques. scones and other goodies. At Niagara's Heritage Day celebration, Welland West set up a large display featuring both past and present WI endeavours. District Tweedsmuir Histories were on exhibit, as well as a special display on the centennial of the Women’s Institute. Welland West donated copies of For Home and Country to ï¬ve local libraries. The Lansdowne and Fairgrove Women's Institutes in Leeds District were honoured in February for their outstanding community service over the years. Formed in 1909, Lansdowrie WI grew in numbers until it was deemed necessary to divrde itin 1947 and [dim a new Branch known as Fairgrove.
