Oxford District WI This District contributed 64 quilt blocks to the International Ouiitfliock Competition. in iaci. members of the Saltord Branch (pictured above) received a gift for entering the mast blocks. The Oxiord District also organized a Raffle as a millennium project. First prize was a print of the Eriand Lee (Museum) Home, won by Joanne Hartnett of Henfrew. Second prize was a Women’s Institute Rose, won by Joyce Wilks of Embro. As well, the District sponsored a Viewer's Choice Photo Contest. The first category was "A WI Competition, " won by Lakeside WI. The second category was "For Home and Country, " won by Saiiord WI. Oxlclid DISIIICI wt Wellburn WI, Middlesex East The Wellburn Women's Institute nomi» nated Dora and Ken Hutton to be sidered for induction into the Middle- x County Agricultural Hall of Fame. The Huttons were inducted in March 200l into the Hall of Fame located at London's Western Fair Grounds. Dora has been a member of the Wellburn WI since its be- ginning, 52 years ago. Hawkestone WI, Simcoe-Kempenleldl Members of the Hawkestone WI kept busy making 14 quilts during the winter months. Several members purchased quilts and others are kept on hand for needy families in emergency situations. All proceeds from the sale of the quilts go back into the com- munity. Members also participated recently in a “Fun Auction.“ having an- swered the Roll Call “Bring Something for the Auction" for their March meeting. Vittoria WI, Norlolk The Vittoria Women’s Institute recently contributed $2,000 to the expansion of the Emergency Room at the Norfolk General ‘OSpital. Bonnechere Valley WI, Renlrew South This Branch is proud of the fact that they continue to sponsor and support the main- tenance ot'a community parkjusl offa busy highway. Alth0ugh the three original picnic tables were Stolen. the Branch perâ€" severed and replaced them. Now, the Township keeps the grass mowed for the many passersby who stop at this quiet spot for lunch. Sunshine WI, Prescott The Sunshine Brunch can boast having many new members. The group recently sponsored an entertainment program with gifts and a luncheon at Muxville and toured the Green Ridge Garden Centre. They are currently planning their booth for the Inter- national Plowtng Match to be held in Nuvan this September.
