Narrator and President of the FWIO Christine Reaburn summarized details from the rest of the original ceremony. It was thrilling to hear the greetings by each ofthese outstanding women leaders. They spoke of peace and sisterhood and the fundamental role of women in the home, their communities and in their respective countries, and the way ACWW had allowed women to work together to make a difference around the world. A play, “A Tribute to Madge,“ showed how this Ontario native, influenced by Adelaide Hoodless. Emily Murphy and Lady Aberdeen had become convinced that the enabling concepts be- hind the WI movement could be expanded internationally within a world body â€" ACWW. Fert Erie Mayor Wayne Redekop, MP John Maloney, MPP Tim Hudak’s representative Anna Nunziata, and Niagara Parks Comâ€" mission representative Joan Brunt spoke to the gathering. They honoured the organization’s 9 million women in 7| countries and paid tributeto theircontribution in the local and world community. The selection of the site, a donation of a natural stone for the plaque, the lovely garden setting and a second explanatory plaque about Madge Watt and the other participants in the historic “pilgrimage of friendship" were all gifts of the Niagara Parks Commission. who were heartily thanked by the Area Committee.
