From the Cochrune District re: rubies An acknowledgement of my letter of thanks for their initial response to our con- cerns, and a request for a copy of our newsletter, was received from Des McKee. Assistant Deputy Minister, Science and In- formation Resources Division of the Ministry of Natural Resources. Letters have been sent regarding all sus- 'ned resolutions, however no other ‘ponses have been received to date. There have been many changes in both federal and provincial governments this year. Possibly after summer recess in September there will be some responses to our concerns. If not, letters will be rewrit- ten. It has been wonderful to receive so many District reports. Thank you! I hope to com- ment on these in future columns. Several books and articles have been published recently, which may be of interâ€" est since they address some of our concerns as expressed in resolutions. Teacher Dianna Edmundson has been teaching the era was to [ugglel Women's Institute members entered into the spirit of things by either telling a joke or wearing a clown costume. Program Convener Janet Hayley (shown in photo) enlarged on the motto, "Let a smile be your umbrella!" She not only dressed as a clown, she carried a black umbrella. which, you guessed it, had a smiley face on it! She also talked about smiles and how they can neutralize tense situations and act as a shield in others. So smile! It takes lower muscles to smile than frowu, and besides it's contagious!
