It was an eventful summer at the Erland Lee (Museum) Home. The Victorian Tea in May was a success, with more people attending than we originally expected, and the Murder Mystery in June was almost a sellâ€"out, with 38 people attending. Both events were enjoyable, and we look forward to doing them again. In addition, museum staff set up a booth at It’s Your Festival fromJune 30th â€" July 2nd in downtown Hamilton, the Joseph Brant Day Festival in Burlington on August 6th, and the Winona Peach Festival from August 25th-27th. Our attendance at these festivals has proven to be successful, as we have had many visitors commenting that our booths referred them to the museum. The Women’s Institutes Country Market was held in support of the museum on August 18th at Binbrook Fairgrounds. The museum acquired the ED. Smith collection last year. The artefacts have now been catalogued, and an exhibit has been created in the Drive House. The exhibit features items from and pictures of members of the ED. Smith family, notably Christina Smith who was the president of the ï¬rst Women's Institute in 1897. Some maintenance has occurred in the museum:theouterwindowframes have been painted black, and some work on the old door on the east wall of the Parlour has taken place. The Drive House is the main focus this year. It is undergoing a restoration process where various repairs and painting will occur. This is all the summer news for the Erland Lee Home, and we will be sure to keep you posted. The contact information for the ‘Lee’ can be found on page 2.
