' Thank you Mary lanes of the Warwick WI! Mary submitted the following questions to be answered in the new You Asked feature. If you have a question you would like answered, email Patty at roseprogram@fwio.on.ca â€" be sure to include You Asked in the subject line. Your question could appear in the next issue of the Home & Country ROSE Garden. The FWIC Erland Lee Award may be given to two men annually in Ontario. Over the past FWIC triennium Ontario apparently only had two recipients (Keith Davidson in 2007 and Jeff Laidlaw in 2009) instead of the possible six. Why is this recognition not published in the Home 81 Country ROSE Garden? It might encourage members to show more interest and nominate more of the men who work hard in the background on behalf of WI. There are a lot of deserving men out there who have supported the work of our local Wl’s for many years and we agree with Mary that they should be acknowledged for their efforts. Information on how to nominate someone has been promoted via various methods over the years including in the newsletter, the website and The Connecting Link. On Mary’s suggestion, we have included it below as a reminder. Moving forward, we will be working with the FWIO Executive Officer to FWIC to ensure the Home & Country ROSE Garden acknowledges recipients so be sure to look for that information in future issues. The Federated Women's Institutes of Canada (FWIC) present the Erland Lee Award oprpreciation to a man who most exemplifies the qualities of Erland Lee. This award will go to a resident in Canada who has: - knowledge of the Women's Institute and its work - given freely of his talents to the WI - been instrumental in raising the profile ofthe WI outside the organization - in his advisory position, promoted the aims and objectives of the WI through expertise in his field of work - encouraged the progress of the WI as a modern organization for women. Nominations can come from the Branch, District, provincial or national level. Each province is entitled to one nomination per year, except for Ontario, which is entitled to two due to the size of its membership. Specifics of the nominee's contribution to the WI must be included with the nomination letter and forwarded to the FWIO Provincial Office for approval by March 1 of each year. A cheque for $15, payable to FWJO, must accompany the nomination. The cost is the responsibility of the nominating body. An Erland Lee Award Certificate will be Simplied by the FWIC Office, but presentations are the responsibility of the nominator. For more information about the Erland Lee Award, please contact the FWIO Provincial Office at 519-836-3078. HOT NEWS "Coast to Coast - WI Alive and Well" is the 2009-2012 triennial theme for FWIC. "The Hard Facts About Women's Heart Health" is the triennial project. The outline and details will be developed at the full Board Meeting in June 2010 after which information will be sent to the Provinces. Conference 2012 will be held in the Mary Windspear Centre, Sidney, Vancouver Island from Tuesday, June 12 â€" Saturday, June 16, 2012. Would you be interested in participating in a bus tour through the Rockies and onto Conference? Please let the Provincial Board know so they can forward the results onto Alberta WI.
