The draw was made Febraury 9. 1009 from all Branches that returned their completed forms. Thank you to everyone who contributed - your thoughts, ideas and suggestions were a great help in developing a strategic plan that will guide our organization over the next three years. Castleford WI MP Cheryl Gallant presented Members of the Castleford WI with a cheque for almost 510,000! The 59964 New Horizons federal government grant was used to purchase kitchen supplies, utensils and dishes for their new Horton Community Centre. The equipment purchased, includes four coffee urns for 25-50 cups to replace the heavier 100 cup urns that are more difficult for seniors to lift. Other significant equipment includes 100 high quality, durable, light dinner ware settings, cutlery for 100, serving utensils, trays, bowls and serving carts, dishtowels, cloths and tablecloths, water jugs, steam trays, stress mats and heavy duty card tables. This project will eliminate the need to use disposable dinnerware and cutlery. The ladies are pleased that the purchases will benefit not only seniors but the many groups using their facilities. This past winter, the Beamsville Wl held a Craft Day for McNally House. Pamela Blackwood. Sophie Paroschy of Singer’s Corners Wl shows three of the five quilts she has made to be sent to soldiers recuperating in Germany as part of the "Comfort Quilts” campaign.
