Congratulations Joanne Currie! At the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, FWlO President Joy Trimble and Women of Excellence in Agriculture Committee Chair, Lynda Brooker presented the very deserving Joanna Currie (L) with the 2008 Women of Excellence in Agriculture ‘ Award. Joanne lives on a farm with her husband David and two daughters in the Region of Peel. She is, by profession, a Law clerk and specializes in wills and estates. Joanne is a director with the Peel Mutual Insurance Company and holds positions with several other organizations. She worked on the farm when the family acquired Belgian Blue calves and played an internal role in bringing this breed and its national show to the Royal. After many years with this breed the Curries became involved with the Shorthorn breed and in 2004 were proud exhibitors of the Grand Champion Shorthorn female at the Royal. Joanne has acted as chaperone at the Royal for the Peel 4-H Beef Club for many years. She offers to children without farm backgrounds the use of a Currie calf to experience 4-H and the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. Joanne has a deep commitment to 4»H, farming and her connections to the Royal and is indeed a worthy recipient of this award for 2008.
