Renfrew South District Some very deserving Renfrew South District WI Members were recently recognized for their Volunteerism at the Ontario Volunteer Service Awards. There were several Members who were honoured but were unable to attend the ceremony including Doris Humphries, a 60-year Women's Institute Member who belongs to the Castleford Branch. Congratulations to the women pictured, as well as all the other women who were recognized for their hard work and contribution! Thank you for working hard, for Home and Country. Waterloo District Waterloo District WI hosted their annual Women’s Day in New Dundee this past spring and, as usual, the program and displays were excellent! Ruth Jones and her committee work hard to get interesting and educational topics for women of all ages to enjoy, and this year was no different. Dr. Anson Chan spoke about Eye Care and Eye Disease, and Noah Wiles demonstrated some effective but fashionable eye wear options. Nicole Brooks and Jan Inguanez, Registered Dietitians from the Woolwich Community Health Centre presented Canada‘s Food Guide, Almost 100 people attended, which helped raise over $900. Some proceeds from the event will be donated to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. Greatjob ladies! Mount Elgin Everyone wins â€" newborn babies in third world countries and Members of Mount Elgin WI who were crowned the “Dishcloth Queens" at the Oxford District Annual Meeting. Members from across the county knitted and crocheted a total of seven hundred and ï¬ftyâ€"eight 10†or 12" dishcloths over a 4-month period. Mount Elgin WI contributed 140 cloths and one Member â€" Margaret Bell knitted 92 cloths. Gail Daniels from Lakeside WI made 80 cloths. Brooksdale WI came in second with their donation of 126 dishcloths. The cloths will be distributed to new moms in third world countries through the Canada Comforts program.
