Ladies Night Out Members of Carry-On WI (Wellington North District) enjoyed a ROSE Session called Ladies Night Out this past Fall. Twentywomen metforaneveningthat included three different 30-minute demonstrations: Christmas Table Centerpieces, Traditional Scottish Shortbread and No Sew Throws. G Ruth Bullock, Princess Elizabeth WI In 1932, at the age of 19, Ruth Bullock became a Member of HaysviIIe Women's Institute where her mother was a charter Member, After that, Ruth attended Girl’s Conference in Guelph in her early teens and was a member of the Homemaking Club at an early age. In 1940 Ruth married Elgin Wind and they had four daughters including a set of twins! If that wasn't busy enough, Ruth joined the Plattsville WI when her famin relocated to that area. Since that time, Plattsville Institute closed and Ruth transferred her Membership to the Princess Elizabeth Women's Institute where she is still an active Member today. She misses very few meetings although she turned 94 in December of 2001 Ruth has held every ofï¬ce, convenor and coordinator position. She has been a 4-H leader for the cooking and sewing courses and is an avid quilter ï¬nishing several quilts a year. Dedicated to her community, Ruth also served in the Plattsville United Church and many other community groups as well! During the Princess Elizabeth Women’s Institute 60th Anniversary Celebration last year in Tavistock, Ruth was presented with her 70 year pin. Submitted by Princess Elizabeth WI Good I Idea' Penage Road WI created a book club in honour of a Member who passed away suddenly. The Sharon Circle Book Discussion was started as part of the WI group but soon started meeting outside WI time. The only non-WI Member to join the Sharon Circle promptly decided to join the WI Branch .35 well. The group meets 5 times a year to discuss books they have collectively agreed upon, share responses and enjoy a light snack. The most recenl books read include "Catseye" by Margaret Atwood, Barbara Kingsolver's "Animal Vegetable Miracle" and Mitch Albom's "Tuesdays with MorriE". Would your Members like to start a book club?
